*1 Don Alhambra del Bolero has moved up the table - Elise Curran suggests that he is a nobleman (cf., Don Giovanni, Don Ottavio)

*2 Regarding the Pirate King and Samuel, Larry Garvin wrote to me, "Baronets have no rights in the House of Lords, so, given the line "Resume your ranks, and legislative duties," it would seem that those two, along with the rest of the pirates, must be at least barons." He's right, of course, so up the table they go.

*3 Larry also wrote, "I would think that Viscount Mentone is a distinguished foreigner rather than a domestic viscount.", and I agree (but see *5 below).

*4 Derrick McClure wrote, "... what an unpardonable breach of etiquette to place the Mikado below Kings Paramount, Hildebrand and Luiz! The rank of Emperor is higher than that of King, and the Mikado would CERTAINLY insist on precedence over those lesser monarchs." 'Tis done !

*5 Ian Henderson then wrote, "whilst the Title of Viscount Mentone does not appear in DeBrett, I feel that he is still intended to be an English Viscount. Otherwise he would have more properly have been described as Viscomte. Possibly he is an 'Irish Peer', and would therefore rank below other members of British Aristocracy, including Barons.", and I agree with that, and so Larry G. is overruled. Viscount Mentone tumbles down a peg or two.

*6 David Stone asked, "If Casilda is on the list as wife of Luiz (and Willis as husband of QF), shouldn't Yum Yum be on as wife of Nanki Poo?", and he's right. Enter Yum Yum onto the list !

*7 James Tappin wrote, "I think that Sir Joseph Porter would be above Corcoran rather than equal as he is also a Privy Counsellor (all cabinet ministers are)", and he, too, is right, so up he goes.

*8 Chris Wain wrote, "The Prince of Monte Carlo, assuming that we take this to be the same as the Prince of Monaco, is the head of state of an independent state, as opposed to having the courtesy title of prince [or princess], as in the case of Princess Zara or Prince Nanki Poo. So I think he ought to go between the Queen of the Fairies (presumably a queen regnant, not consort) and Casilda", and I agree. Up he goes !

*9 Chris also said, "Within a grade, I believe you are supposed to take the order of creation - eg a barony created by Queen Victoria will come before one created by the present queen. So Pooh Bah (and presumably Pish Tush) must come before Ko Ko - who as we know was, not long ago, a mere tailor". Down goes Ko Ko !
